Back to School Buddy Power!
For many adults, working out consistently is the most difficult part of staying "fit". Having a workout buddy puts the odds in your favor that you will be accountable to exercise a couple times a week. When you work out with a friend, spouse, parent or a neighbor … sometimes that dose of socialization can push you through the "too busy" or "too tired" excuse list. With a buddy encouraging you, you are more likely to show up, keep the treadmill on and ride the bicycle a little longer. If you lift weights, a partner could challenge you to do more repetitions or add more weight each week. Partners can push you to walk faster, run an extra mile, or increase the intensity so that you actually sweat because it is a 'calories in and calories out' mentality that helps people lose weight and keep it off. No fancy pills, no expensive shakes. Just hard work. There are SO many great things about having a partner to exercise with or simply do an exercise video with! Buddy power makes the time pass more quickly, and you get to catch up on each other's lives. You can find an exercise buddy at a local fitness center, join a walking or running club, or ask a co-worker to move with you over the lunch hour. Stay-at-home moms can trade time with another stay-at-home mom to get out of the house and commit to being active. There's no one like a work out partner to notice that you lost 10 pounds and share in your successes. School is back in session, so buddy up in September!
