Local Businesses Take Part in Digital Mammography Fundraising for HMH
July 1, 2011
Horn Memorial Hospital (HMH) received $620.56 from Jack and Jane Hogue of the Prairie Pedlar in Odebolt. This donation was the result of their "Give and Grow" program, a personal effort they put forth to help community organizations raise cash for a cause. During the month of May, customers who presented a "Give and Grow Coupon for Digital Mammography" helped HMH to earn 10% of every dollar they spent.
"Board members Terri Carstensen and Deb Einspahr were instrumental in the success of this fund raiser," comments Sarah Harm, PR Director. "They really championed this project by personally delivering the hundreds of coupons to businesses in our service area. We sincerely appreciate all of the support received from the communities as we continue to raise funds for the digital mammography unit".
The Prairie Pedlar is just one of several businesses who have come forth to offer a percentage of sales from their business to help the hospital's cause. Carol Auen, an Independent Mary Kay Beauty Consultant from Odebolt, will be giving 10% of her sales back to HMH - "until the hospital reaches their goal". Existing and new customers alike simply have to mention the digital mammography project and the purchase will qualify. Orders can be placed by going to her website at www.marykay.com/cauen and mention the hospital in the "comments" section. Jenni Sohm, Independent Pampered Chef Consultant, has also come forward to raise funds with the help of HMH employees. Sales from a "book party" that will run through the month of July will benefit digital mammography. Anyone who wishes to place an order for Pampered Chef products simply needs to contact Sarah Harm, PR Director before the end of July.
"Horn Memorial is committed to providing state-of-the-art healthcare that our patients expect and deserve. Digital mammography has become the standard for breast health and in order to provide the highest quality of care for our patients, we need to upgrade our current film-based mammography unit to digital. We have placed thermometer signs in several locations for patients to track our fundraising progress. We have currently raised just over $110,000 and need to be at the $300,000 mark before the unit can be ordered," comments Harm.
