Horn Memorial Hospital Continues to Raise Funds for a Digital Mammography Unit

Horn Memorial Hospital is committed to providing state-of-the-art healthcare that our patients expect and deserve. Digital Mammography has become the standard for breast health. In order to provide the highest quality of care to our patients, we are in need of upgrading our current film-based mammography unit to digital.

Benefits of digital mammography:
improved contrast between dense and non-dense breast tissue
shorter exam time
physician manipulation of breast images for more accurate detection of breast cancer
ability to correct under and over exposure without having to repeat mammograms
transmittal of images over phone lines or network
connection for remote consultation with physicians easier image storage

The hospital's fundraising campaign for a Digital Mammography Unit began last fall with the Foundation Festival's "Picture Perfect Pink!" event. With staff and community support we have raised $80,000 of the $400,000 goal. The campaign continues with the Hospital Membership Drive funds being designated to the Digital Mammography Unit as well as the funds raised from this year's "Girlfriend's Getaway" set for Monday, April 25th.

The Horn Memorial staff has been outstanding supporters. The Girlfriend's Getaway committee, led by the Radiology Department, requested each employee personally get involved by contributing to a themed gift baskets that will be raffled at the Girlfriend's Getaway. Jerri Downs, Radiology Director commented, "The staff's support has been amazing! We received 17 creative, fun-filled baskets that have a minimum value of $50 each, and many are worth much more. With this commitment, we are well on our way to raising the funds needed to provide our patients Digital Mammography." As a fun twist to this year's Girlfriend's Getaway, we are offering mini massages and manicures on a first come, first serve basis. Massage Therapists donating their time: Bonnie Boyle, Horn Memorial Hospital; Meagan Ackerman, Just Relax Massage Therapy; and Lindsay Kluver, Trendue. Manicures will be donated by: Second Street Station, Styles Unlimited, Tabitha's Cutting Edge, Total Image and Trendue.

Tickets for both the Girlfriends Getaway and the raffle can be purchased at Horn Memorial Hospital and Horn Physicians Clinic in Ida Grove, Odebolt and Mapleton. For more information on Digital Mammography and the Girlfriend's Getaway, visit our website at www.hornmemorialhospital.org.

Our community's backing is vital in raising both awareness and funds to continue to provide this service locally. As always, the hospital greatly appreciates the support of the communities we serve.
