Ida Alive's Walking Challenge

Ida Alive challenges residents of Ida County to walk in May. Never participated in a challenge before? Not a problem! There are three divisions: one for people just getting started, one for people who already walk, and one for people who are very active. The challenge runs May 3 through May 30.

How do you get started? Make a team of 4-6 people, come up with a team name and decide on a captain. Then go to the Ida Alive website at www.idaalive.org and register your team by May 1. All the information you need to get started is on the site.

Walking is the most popular physical activity among adults. Taking a walk is low cost and doesn't require any special clothes or equipment. It may lower your risk of health problems like high blood pressure, heart disease and diabetes. Walking strengthens your bones and muscles, help burn calories and lifts your mood.

Make walking fun by going to places you enjoy, like a park or on a trail. Bring along a friend or family member to chat with, or listen to some of your favorite music as you walk. Keep the volume low so that you can hear noises around you.

Spring is the perfect time to walk outdoors and enjoy the fresh air, green grass, and blue skies. So let's get started Ida County!
