Horn Memorial Benefits from the First Annual Jillian Grace Duck Race
The first annual Jillian Grace Duck Race was held on Saturday, June 25th in conjunction with the Ida Grove Heritage Days festivities. The Lansink family along with a group of family and friends collectively sold 1,741 ducks and raised $8,387 in honor of Jillian Grace Lansink, infant daughter of Adam and Jodi Lansink. Jillian was born on July 14, 2009 with Anencephaly, a fatal birth defect.
Jodi contacted Sarah Harm, PR Director, earlier in the year asking for ideas for a fund raiser to hold in her daughter's honor with the idea of donating the funds back to the hospital for OB/Pediatric needs. Due to a shift in fundraising plans for the year, Sarah offered the Lansink family the use of the hospital's ducks along with some tips to help them get started. Jodi commented, "I wanted to give back to the OB/Pediatric Departments in Jillian's memory, but the final amount we raised with the support of the community far exceeded my expectations."
Rebecca Burns, Inpatient Director, has been working with Jodi on equipment needs for the OB/Pediatric Departments. Horn Memorial Hospital would like to thank the Lansink family and the community for their support enabling this generous donation.
