Could You Benefit from a Home Care Aide?
Horn Public Health Home Care Aides are trained and supervised paraprofessionals who provide services which range from basic housekeeping to personal care. Duties of a Home Care Aide can vary greatly from home to home. They may involve personal care, including assistance with bathing or exercise. Environmental help may include light cleaning, vacuuming and laundry. Home Care Aides may also run errands, assist with correspondence and provide emotional support.
"How does a person know if they qualify for Home Care Aide services?" is a frequently asked question, says Jodi Miller, Home Care Aide Supervisor, "After a referral from a healthcare provider, family member, or friend or if a person requests services themselves, someone from Horn Memorial Public Health will visit with them about the program, their individual needs, and the cost. There is no charge for this initial consultation visit." Home Care Aide services in Ida County are funded by a grant from the Iowa Department of Public Health, County funds, and client fees.
Home Care Aides help individuals and families achieve the greatest possible level of health and comfort at home. If you have questions or would like someone to visit with you about Home Care Aide services, please call Horn Public Health at 364-3311 extension 3100.
